Success StoriesRead about some of CrypKey's current customers.Honeywell LimitedHoneywell Limited is currently using CrypKey SDK (Software Developer Kit) to license its Shadow Plant® product. Shadow Plant® is a fully featured software suite for the process industries, delivering a realistic replica of a plant. This replica can be used to evaluate decisions, check engineering designs, improve performance, and train operations personnel. How is Honeywell benefiting from CrypKey license management solutions? In 2001, the company wanted to enforce a node-locked licensing scheme but without a hardware dongle requirement. Without sufficient time to design its own solution, the company initially utilized CrypKey Instant, which allowed it to node-lock its main Shadow Plant® executable without changing any source code. For its next product release, Honeywell switched to CrypKey SDK, which allowed the company to build CrypKey licensing checks directly into its software code... and provide more flexible licensing options to its customers. Honeywell International is a $23 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services, control technologies for buildings, homes and industry, automotive products; turbochargers, and specialty materials. Headquartered in Morris Township, N.J., Honeywell's shares are traded on the Chicago, London, New York and Pacific Stock Exchanges. Honeywell Limited, its Canadian subsidiary, is Canada's leading controls company offering technology that enhances comfort, improves productivity, saves energy, protects the environment and increases security and safety. The company develops intelligent instruments for interference reduction - generally, instruments that perform extremely difficult and complex measurements but which can be quickly learned and used by lower skilled personnel than with prior or existing test methods. Summitek addresses the labor shortage issue and at the same time reduces test costs. Summitek's first product was a Passive Intermodulation Analyzer (PIM), introduced in 1996. PIM is known as one of the best and more innovative products in the wireless test equipment category and is the world standard for this difficult measurement. Summitek currently uses CrypKey SDK (Software Developer Kit) to sell Oasis, a spectrum management control system, which is installed onto customers' laptops. James Brunner, Summitek's Director of Engineering, notes: "We use CrypKey (product) to authorize this software to a particular machine installation. This process locks the software to that particular machine. CrypKey SKD allows Summitek to sell Oasis to a particular customer and generate immediate revenue from it." back to top |
